Qatar Goes From Very Poor to One of the Richest in the World
Last year my family took a summer vacation to a very interesting destination. We visited the country of Qatar. This was an area known for pearl fishing and had been one of the poorest of the Gulf states prior to the 1940′s. That all changed when the oil and gas fields were discovered. It has gone from very poor to one of the richest in the world. Their global influence continues to rise and the number of foreigners within the region actually outnumbers the natives.
