Historic Destinations from Malta and Rhodes Hotels

Rhodes Hotels, Malta Hotels

You can learn so much about a country by taking a tour of its historic and with lots of stone-clad buildings and museums, Rhodes and Malta are two great places to start. Rhodes might have given the world Faliraki, but the city also has an older more picturesque side. This side is Rhodes Old Town which is now a UNESCO world heritage site and with over 200 winding lanes and streets it’s quite easy to get lost there. However, in the oldest Medieval town in Europe this is something to revel in and not something to worry about. You see every street corner will bring you to something new and mysterious, be it a traditional tavern or an old church or synagogue. Look for Rhodes hotels near the Old Town if you can as there are some great places to eat out around here. Oh, and if you are worried about getting lost then just look out for Sokratous, which is the closest the Old Town has to having a main street.

Malta hotels are another option if you like exploring the historic whilst on your holidays. Mdina is the capital and this has its own Old Town area with several attractions. The old fortified city was built in the 14th century and parts of it were later rebuilt in 1722. Look out for Bastion Square where the Ottoman Turks camped out during their attack on the city in 1522. From here, turn to the right and you’ll see the large cupola dome of Mosta’s church which is the third largest in the world.
